Feb 15th – 19th
We called this our “2nd annual Taylor/Entwistle Whistler trip”, but technically it was just the Taylor/Entwistle boys last year. This year the girls were invited. Realistically, we only have one more year before Chase goes on a mission and then the following year most likely TT, so there will three years without the Bestie Guy Friends and they probably won’t like us going without them. I’ve found there’s this weird thing that happens to boys on their missions – they really don’t like to hear about their families traveling and having fun without them. I guess we’ll see.
We had to split up for meals since we were such a large group by parents and kids. Can’t really say adults and kids since Master D and Lelu are technically adults but I think they liked sitting with the kids better too.
I’m not sure who’s who in the photo above…..
The first day it was a pretty clear day with icy snow.
Lelu, and Ari – Day 2 snowed the whole day long. It was pure powder and very quiet to ski on, but hard to see the piles of bumps the snowboarders leave behind.
B and I taking a break as we slowly and I mean s.l.o.w.l.y are making our way down.
Chase and TT (with one of his many cool hairdos) waiting for Black Panther to start at the movie theater.
No explanation needed…
zoom in on TT’s hair in these photos….that would be my handiwork.
TT went up a day earlier than the rest of us with the Entwistles and when they left a day earlier than we did, his snowboard was sent back up to the hotel. He was not very happy about having to wait around for them to find it and bring it back.
This is our last night together. Before we went, Dawna told me she hadn’t skied in almost 10 years and she wasn’t very good. I told her we could stick together. The truth is she learned to ski as a kid and skied as a teenager so has the muscle memory of knowing exactly how to ski in the proper form. She’s not very fast so it was easy to stick with me – I am an extreme speedaphobe – competely “pizza slicing” it all the way down the very large mountain. I never achieved “french fries” but looking at the bright side, I never crashed either. I already had some fun shin splints from running around Disney World in sandals, so my calves and shins pretty much hated me as much as I hated them. B said later that it was good that I was worse than Dawna because she is competitive and I am not. The heirarchy of best to worst skier/snowboarder is of major dispute. Tied for #1 is B, David, TT and Chase (it’s sort of apple to oranges because B and David are speed demons on moguls but TT can do some pretty cool backflips and Chase can do big jumps), Master D is not too far behind. Lelu and Ari are fairly even too, and then Dawna and then you’d have to drop about 10 more levels down to me. I honestly followed 3 and 4 year olds down the mountain trying to emulate their form.
After our friends left on Sunday, Master D, TT and Ari signed themselves up to bungee jump off a bridge. It was unbelievably cold and there were no heaters up at the sight. But Master D went first and he shockingly just jumped backward off the bridge.

He said this is the scariest part after bouncing the first time, flying back up in the air and falling again. I was up on the bridge making sure I didn’t drop my phone with my chilled to the bone fingers videoing them jumping off.

And he survived saying that he wants to go to China and jump off the tallest bungee jump in the world, four times taller than this one.
Ari said she was the most scared so they made her go second.

when she bounced back up she went upside down.

TT, who was the instigator of this whole thing as he had tried to talk Chase into doing it last summer, went last.
I sooo wish you could see his face! Master D and Ari screamed the whole way down. I don’t know how you keep from screaming. However, TT stepped off and was completely silent the whole way down. I was sure he had passed out, some people do.

As he bounced back up, he was in full flailing running man. Still silent.
When they pulled him up, he said “That was THE MOST TERRIFYING thing I’ve ever done!” He was too terrified to even scream. Yet, I have no doubt he’d do it again in a heartbeat and join Master D in China.
I had to go sign the waivers and I thought walking across the bridge was scary enough and I froze. I have NO desire to leap off a bridge and bounce up and down! Lelu was going to just stay and ski with B, but it ended up being so cold they went back and hung out in the hotel. She was very sad to have missed out. Next year she and Chase have been issued a challenge to go do it too.
I’m not sure how this trip compared to the boys trip last year, but other than B feeling like he had to stay with me half the day, I think it was a win. It looked like Christmas in February to us. We were so happy to see it snowing up there and glad that we planned a trip to ski somewhere since UT hadn’t had any good snow, but on the day we flew home UT got a foot of snow in the valleys (and on the car we left at the airport with no scraper again) and delayed all the flights and closed roads. We’ve since had a few storms and TT is finally using his season pass.

So awesome that you were able to do this before T’s surgery! We love you!
You live in a different world the one I have lived in!! I often have said if I were daring enough I would like to sky dive! Bungee jumping? NO!!
Love your crazy family !!!

Hi Anne and Simon Family
I also just received the gummy bears and am hiding them from everyone just for me:) Thank you for sending them back with Aubri. She had a great time returning to Germany and visiting all of you. Thank you also for making her feel so welcome.
I skied once, one day, in eighth grade. Never tried again. Love you, and I’m proud so many of our offspring have conquered their fears by trying such adventurous stuff–like skiing and bungee jumping. Thanks for sharing.
