The Real Life of An Adult Birthday

Master D is now an official 25 year old adult.

But when you move away from home, birthdays are just not quite the same.  He now has adult responsibilities so he started his day off with spending five hours at the CA DMV getting his car registered and a CA license….long lines…. they don’t take credit cards so he had to go get a cashiers check …..more long lines.  Check out the people behind him – if I didn’t know any better, I’d think it was an SNL skit exaggerating the DMV experience.  Luckily before he left for CA, he spotted a Mumford and Sons concert in LA the night of his actual birthday.  He’s never really forgiven me for going to their concert while he was on his mission and sending him a t-shirt.  I thought I was being nice, he thought I was tormenting him.  Thank Heavens, he has since seen them once since returning from his mission but I thought he’d finally forgive me if for his birthday I bought him two tickets.  This concert was actually an iHeart AlterEgo festival so he also saw Cage The Elephant, Beck, Spoon, The National, WALK THE MOON, Dashboard Confessional and AJR with his roommate and friend James, who barely made it from his very demanding “Kramerica-Like” (Seinfeld ref) internship in Malibu.  I bought him good seats so this is how he described it to me “Apparently only middle age women who LOVE Beck could afford those tickets, so we were surrounded by a bunch of drunk middle age women”.  But he did enjoy the concert overall very much! Even while being flirted with by said “middle-age women”.  This is a little known fact to me, as a middle aged woman, that Beck is loved by some of my fellow cohorts.  I think I’ll start asking around.

At least he ended the day with some fun!
