T. H. E. P. U. P. P. I. E. S !!

May 5th – May 6th

Dumb dumb dummies that we are, noticed that Halle was getting fat but thought it was because I had a girl trying to train the dumbo dogs not to fight over food and that she was feeding her too much. But then her nipples started to look… um ..suspicious. This was on Monday April 29th. We got her an appt at the vet for Wed, they confirmed by x-ray four maybe five puppies and due IN A WEEK or two. At this point we had no idea who the papa dog was. TT really wanted us to cancel our trip since “we were going to be grandparents”. If I was going to be a grandparent of a human puppy I definitely would have cancelled our trip – but alas, they were not human puppies. Instead, we left everything in the capable hands of Lelu, Jake, TT and Ari. Sunday night was Cinco de Mayo and a big storm came in. A couple hours after B and I went to sleep, Halle delivered her first puppy. It was a boy and Lelu named him Cinco. It took Halle about eight more hours to deliver five more (so sad one didn’t make it). We finally answered the phone in the morning and given the news we were officially grandpuppyparents. Apparently Jake and TT stayed up for a lot of it. She’d delivered five puppies and were all alive when they went to sleep but one died before they got up in the next morning. An hour later she delivered one more (that looked exactly like the one that died).

Halle was suuuuppppeeer protective in the beginning. They looked like guinea pigs or little slithering potatoes.

Once we got home, B became the most super dedicated grandpuppypa ever.

We set up a Nest camera and added Aub and Master D to the access. We were all super addicted to our live streaming puppy cam. There may have been a few too many times that B and I were caught in our underwear at night, but in the daytime we were more careful as Aub had the puppy streaming going on almost all day at work. Her project manager had just bought a house and was planning to get a rescue dog, but when he saw the pups he picked our golden girl within 2 days and literally watched her grow up on camera from Portland. We named her Goldiesox. Aub and D each booked flights out “for my birthday weekend”. We all became obsessed with them. Have you ever heard of puppy therapy? Well our house became a puppy-love-home. We all fell in love with all of them!

More puppy love to come in the next blogs as they played a huge part in our lives the last 10 weeks.
