Summer is over, the colors on the mountain are changing and if I didn’t take photos, I would completely forget what we even did this summer. It went by way too fast, I was not ready for any of us to go back to school. But time marches on, Ayden is in 10th grade, the twins in 5th and I am officially a junior.
I posted about the big trips but we did a bunch of little outings too. I thought I would share a few
We were lucky to have Elaine Dalton come speak to our stake youth. She was awesome and totally approachable and has run SEVENTEEN marathons! Very inspiring!
We went up to Park City and rode the Alpine coaster and bungee jumped where TT’s bud Chase learned to do a front flip – and then it started to rain. If you haven’t gone on that coaster – it’s totally worth going!
Lake Blanch hike: Two and half hours straight up hiking, falling into a stream and having B laugh at me, being mobbed by bugs and a few diligent bee’s, Dr. Pepper Slurpee & Choc milks at the bottom – Spiderman & then watching all the fireworks in the valley from our front yard – PERFECT 4th of July.
Our first chipped tooth of our kids….with B having both of his front teeth knocked out as a kid, I’ve been worried about it. She was climbing up a pool slide with TT right behind her and she slipped and he came down on top of her and smacked her teeth right into the slide. It’s bonded now and hopefully good for awhile.
Don’t take little rat dogs on hikes with you..while it’s tempting to think they’d be a nice scooby snack for a wild animal so you can run away. The reality is you end up carrying their lazy butts.
Round trip this hike is 5 miles, it winds up around the temple and down through a cool little forest…and it’s 5 minutes from our house. We went on this one a few times this summer.
Over the 4th of July week, Lelu went to EFY with her friend Kayla down at BYU. They got the brand new dorms (extremely lucky girls) and came back with ‘COW’s” (Crush Of the Week). I personally think that’s a terrible acronym. They didn’t sleep, ate a lot of junk (because the food sucked), had a great time..and missed our LONG hike to Lake Blanch
