Decade of Amazings?!

What’s the first word that pops into your head when you look at this?
AMAZING!

Now that we are getting older it seems like many of us (ahem B in January) are rapidly approaching the big fifty…yuck…what is it about fifty that seems like you’ve crossed into OLD?  I was talking with my friend, who is just slightly older than me and she told me when she is in charge of creating another world she is going to have a decade in between forty and fifty called the amazing decade. I say WHY WAIT?  We can just decide what age to call ourself, can’t we?  Let’s take control of our destiny by adding this new decade.  We have mostly raised our kids, are more financially stable (hopefully) and can actually have a little freedom to travel and enjoy life – amazing!  So Peg, Mark, Scott and those who have recently entered this decade – You are not fifty – you are amazing, I think that makes Peg amazing-one.  Thanks Joann:)

  1. I think you’re absolutely right about that. The decade of 40’s has been great. I’ve been calling them the fun years because we were out of the diaper stage. The fifties will be awesome for all the reasons you mentioned and our kids become our friends….not that I’m necessarily looking forward to getting older, but since it can’t be avoided, we should appreciate the awesomeness of it all.

  2. The fifties are amazing when you are looking back from the 70’s. You are in a wonderful time of life. My goal is to find the amazing part of each decade. I am struggling with this one, but it nice to be free enough to become snowbirds and go where we want when we want – almost.

  3. I made kind of a big deal about turning fifty, dubbing it the Second and Better Half. You know, of my century, because I am making it to 100 for sure. I have big plans for this decade. I am finding the start to be a bit bumpy, but I can handle bumps. The part about your kids being your friends, I am way into that! It’s awesome, and my favorite part of life. The Grandma Gig is pretty good, too. I really appreciate Mom’s perspective, on looking back at fifty from where she is, and also looking ahead from there. It gives me hope.
