Well TT’s pogo sticking/plates in his arm/not being able to be an active kid for four months total – incident is coming to an end. Last week he had the plates removed from his arm. We chose to go up to Primary Children’s Hospital because we had such a horrible experience at Alta View. Awesome surgeon there but not kid experienced or friendly at all. I LOVE PRIMARY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL! He had no nausea and very little pain. Those people are the best of the best. Last year, he was MISERABLE because they doped him up with everything for three solid days. Anyhow, TT has gone through quite a growth spurt in the last year and what with his accelerated growth, the plates needed to come out.
This time we went into recovery and instead of me running my hands through his hair and him holding my hand, he slapped me directly across the face when I tried. When B teased him about a girl he liked texting him, he kicked him in the chest. When he realized he had an IV and wristband on his wrist and hand, he tried to chew them off. When he saw the blood pressure cuff on his arm, he asked why he was handcuffed to the bed and then chewed it off. When the alarm went off because he chewed the cuff off of his arm, he asked me why I took it off of him. When B pulled the blanket up on him, he slapped his hand away about 10 times. He then demanded we get him a steak and lobster (I don’t think he’s even had steak and lobster before). But then he asked what that was called and I said “surf and turf” and then he proceeded to demand surf and turf about 20 times. Of course, he doesn’t remember any of this – but we do have some video to prove it. The only thing I can figure is that since his voice is somewhat changing, he’s growing like a weed and he even has a little peach fuzz mustache – testosterone has taken over his natural man brain. But I’ll take that over vomit, misery and tears any day! He has six more weeks of torturous inactivity. B took the day off work the day before his surgery and they spent it up on the slopes to make up for the snowboarding ban – but seeing as snow is being dumped here regularly this winter, he might make it out again before the end of the season. He was ready to go back to school the very next day, and just like a healthy young growing teenage boy – he’s bored out of his mind. And I am hoping his nasty hideous scars heal much less offensively disgusting and he isn’t.
And much to his enjoyment, they let him keep the hardware. It looks so much smaller than I thought it did on the xray and strangely kind of shiny and pretty.

Love your sense of humor! TT will, too, when he’s fully recovered! Glad to hear that he is on his way to releasing all that energy.
You could make a cool necklace with it 🙂
Love you!
Neat kid! Tough experience. Glad he’s all well now. (I sometimes get to read these blogs way too later after they’re written.)
