The Wild Atlantic Way – Day 7 Edinburgh -> Westport, Ireland

August 27th, 2022

We woke up, packed up, ate breakfast and headed to the airport. We dropped the car off and met up with M&M and hopped on our very quick 55 minute flight from Edinburgh to Knock, Ireland. We flew over the Irish Sea, where they have a windmill farm right in the middle of it. Why don’t we do that in the US? It seems like we have enough desert to put tons of them. Once we landed in Knock, we went to pick up our rental car and found out that you must be 30 to drive a rental car over there. Since I was the only one in my party over 30, it was now up to me to drive on the wrong side of the road, on the wrong side of the car. In my slight panic, I also lost my sun glasses, which made me very sad. Good thing it was cloudy a lot. I also had the advantage of following Maruan pretty much everywhere and that made it a lot easier. We drove a ton. I am quite proud I was able to do all of the driving – since in 2014 I was completely FREAKED OUT and wouldn’t even sit in the front seat. We drove from Knock about an hour to Westport, where our AirBnB was. This one mostly made up for the one in Glasgow, its’ views were unmatched!! Even if the decor was a little eclectic.

This was our view:

Eclectic decor

the super cute town of Westport.

A favorite gelato shop

We went to dinner at an Italian restaurant they had never tried but had good ratings. We had a french waiter who was the epitome of ‘Holy Rude’!! We should have left, I feel bad we didn’t leave and if I could go back and do it again, we would have left. Since this is my shortest blog about one of our days – it seems a great place to post all of my flower photos I took on my trip:
