Now THIS is what everyone looks forward to when planning their wedding, right? The wedding day itself is obviously amazing, but honestly, you are so relieved once it’s over! All the stress just goes away in an instant, and it’s the best.

Jake & I spent our wedding night at the Marriott on Main Street in Park City. Our flight to Florida was the next day, so it was nice being able to chill out before for a little bit… Haha. We ate crepe left-overs from the reception for breakfast and then drove back to Draper to get a ride to the airport. And then we were off…

Our cruise took off from Tampa the next day (Christmas Eve). We were so excited! I will say, because this is a journal documenting our ‘real’ life, that I did get sick. It was so sad! You don’t want to get sick on your Honeymoon. It was a major bummer! I wasn’t like ‘I’m going to die’ sick, but I was that ‘tired/weak’ kinda sick. Lucky me, I had my cute new husband to take care of me. We checked in on the cruise, explored a little bit, and then we watched our favorite Christmas movies- I love Home Alone, and Jake loves It’s a Wonderful Life. We watched both! We ate our favorite candy and watched our favorite movies until dinner. Dinner on a cruise is so fun! Since this was my first cruise, I didn’t really know how it worked, but every night, you get all dressed up and go out to a ‘fancy dinner.’ We tried escargot (not a fan), but mostly just ate all the bread at the table, haha. After our fancy dinner, we went back to our room and put on our Christmas jammies (a must) and finished the night off with another Christmas movie, haha!

Our first Christmas together as a married couple was just so good. We brought all our wrapped gifts for each other and opened them up in the morning after breakfast. Jake is the best gift giver (I really need to step it up), and each year he gives me one sentimental gift, along with a few, I guess, “typical gifts?” Haha I don’t know what to call them! This year, he made me cassette tapes of our wedding playlist, it was so cute. He also got me a swimsuit, some jeans, jewelry, and perfume! & then I gave him shoes and a basketball, haha. I suck at gift-giving! We spent the rest of the day chilling by the pool, eating, and watching the cruise’s Christmas performance. I’d say it was a success!

The next day we had our first stop in Key West. I loved being able to go explore such a cute little town. We rented a vespa, and took off exploring! It was so much fun. We toured Ernest Hemingway’s house, ate at a yummy taco truck, and of course, got some famous key lime pie.

Our next stop was in Cozumel, Mexico, which I loved! I was on the mend at this point… While Jake was slowly catching what I had, haha. So sad. We decided to take the day easy, and we went and spent the day at a secluded little beach resort where we snorkeled, relaxed, and ate our weight in piña colada’s and chips and guac. Then we were back on the boat and headed back to Tampa.

After the cruise, we spent a few more days in St. Pete’s Beach. There, we played tennis everyday, swam, beached, shopped, and pretty much ate our way through the rest of our honeymoon! We were able to eat at a world famous restaurant called The Columbian, and I’m tellin ya, I devoured the most divine bread pudding I had ever had. So delish! For New Years Eve, we walked 3 miles to a firework show that didn’t even end up happening, haha. BUT! I got my first New Years Kiss so that was a bonus! It was an amazing trip. Seriously, we loved our honeymoon, EVEN being sick half the time, haha.
