The Final Huntington Beach Fall Break

Oct 17th to 21st

I think I should title everything this year with “the final” since our time of having kids at home is coming permanently to an end. They are all ‘legal’ adults now. This year we took Lelu and Jake since they had fall break too. Much to Lelu and Ari’s distaste, we still have a love for Titos Tacos and we took a vote on whether to drive up the horrific 405 and introduce Jake to Titos and then continue up to the kids favorite beach Leo Carillo and hang out there for a day. The girls were outvoted. TT and B really like this area..there’s a cave and some bouldering there. It’s a much different beach than Huntington which is wide open and shallow. When we arrived, there was a guy taking a nap and one other family on our little section of the beach we like. The dad of the family was wearing a kind of spankies-type speedo. B wondered aloud to me if they were European. TT and Jake, after scaring poor Lelu to death getting trapped in the cave by the waves on purpose, found a boulder and started a game they called “rock-put”. The competition was to basically huck it as far as possible, however possible. Soon B joined in and then our fellow spankies wearing beach goer introduced himself as Marco from Germany and asked if he could play too. Ari joined in for a few throws. Jake ending up winning rock-put. It was a very nice day. Once the sun started to get lower, we headed up to our favorite Neptunes Net for steamed shrimp. And then we had the drive from hell, that everyone would prefer not to remember, back to Huntington. B may have said to take Lincoln, and the GPS may have said to take any way but Lincoln and there may have been some disagreement about it. After 2 long hours, we finally made it!

The next day we headed out to the beach and 30 feet down from where we were setting up sat my friend Cherie, her husband and two kids – also on Fall break and we honestly had not discussed our plans and did not know the other was going to be there. They brought a spike ball game which TT and Jake were very happy to play with Kenzie & Bridger. TT is quite the spike ball player at home with his friends. He was even invited to play in an assembly at school. The kids walked down to Sanchos Tacos and then brought us all back fish tacos and I sat and visited with Cherie and burned my face for the first time in years since I forgot to bring a visor and didn’t have on enough sunscreen. It was a perfect day at the beach.

On the last day we went parasailing again. I bailed out of it this time around but then I could video and such

The kids spent a lot of time in the hot tub and pool and the weather was perfect for our final trip for fall break to Huntington Beach.
