The Biggest Perk of Having Twins

I honestly don’t even really like Halloween, I barely decorate, I hate haunted houses and scary movies, so I really have no idea why I love picking out their Halloween costumes and dressing them up so much.  I told them a few years ago that they could start picking their own costumes in 6th grade. I gave the story that because they didn’t sleep through the night for two years, I earned the right to choose.  How I got away with that, I have no idea!

I can’t find a photo, nor do I remember what they were in 2004. When I find it, I will post it. So in honor of my last year, here is a little walk down memory lane…

Look at those cute little faces and not even scared of Darth Sith.
This was my least original..

I made that bee costume when Aubri was 2! I swore every kid would wear it, I just didn’t plan on having twins. But the flower was too cute – I believe this was where I got the costume obsession! Since this is Michele’s fav, I thought it appropriate to use this photo.

The Utes are probably not what Grandma would have preferred, so Lelu wore BYU to balance the universe. Oh I miss those cute little things, they grow up too fast!

This one fights for number one. Look at how cool his captain Hook is and could there be a more perfect Tinkerbell?

Master D pulled off some memorable costumes too. I love his Edward Scissorhands. This choice was in honor of B’s love of the Wizard of Oz. He wanted them to be the flying monkeys though.

This was Mr. T’s one scary costume and he liked it the least. Check out Ari’s rocking red cowboy boots!

You can’t not do Thing One and Thing Two when you have twins. The blue wigs were the best part of this costume. We love Dr. Suess.

I really wanted to have Mr. T be Ken, but I used better judgement for his future pride.

They are getting some attitude and are enjoying getting into the character. Of course, I had to teach them who Elvis was.

They REALLY got into their characters this year. Thank heavens for YouTube. Mr. T was entertaining me with his version the the moonwalk and Ari can belt out a great “Stop In the Name of Love”

  1. Thing One and Thing Two for the WIN! Love them all! Thanks for posting the walk down Halloween Memory Lane for those of us who weren’t there to see it all. Breck and Kylie just completed Dalton and Guy’s costumes for this year. They are Sonic and Tails. Breck always does the costume thing up, way more than I ever did. Then she takes awesome pictures, of course. In our family we have no choice but to love Halloween, what with Ethan choosing that day to make his entrance and all. Zach gets way into the costumes and has won some serious money in the past. Avatar was the most ambitious by far. Full blue body paint! He has to make up for his mother’s lack of creativity when he was a child. 😉

  2. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are my favorite!! I don’t have anyone to dress up anymore. Not even myself:( enjoy it!
    Love you!

  3. Those are some very cool costumes! I used to love making Halloween costumes, but I haven’t done it in awhile (no wait, last year I made Porter a Peter from Narnia costume). This year I am lazy and Porter will be Dracula, which I don’t even like. I wish I had just buckled down and made him the Captain America costume that he wanted to be. (I’m with you, Kristin, I don’t like any of the scary and gory Halloween things. I like cute and happy, fun costumes!)
