Our European adventure was everything I wanted it to be (and more). Even the “realities” of the trip provided good stories for us. I must say though, killing a cockroach at 3am was less than ideal (well Jake is actually the one who killed it, haha). We still had an absolutely incredible time!!
Without going into too much detail, I’ll just note a few of my highlights in Scotland & Ireland.
First things first, the Isle of Skye was PURE MAGIC. I know we lucked out on weather and quite honestly, our mode of transportation to get there was in and of itself amazing (shoutout to mom), it was truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Our driver kept saying that the one day we went was the most beautiful day of the year so far! So needless to say, we lucked out. We all agreed that green was our new favorite color (if every green looked like the Isle of Skye). I’m not kidding IT WAS SO GREEN. We made a few stops along the way, including the Quirang & Kilt Rock. Both just stunningly beautiful (see pics). So yeah, to be honest, my time in The Isle of Skye could have been much longer, but I was so grateful for our one day adventure there.
The next highlight (& maybe most obvious one), the Coldplay concert. It was so fun to get to experience this concert in Scotland and with Jake, Dhane, my mom, Michelle, and Maruan. Jake agrees it’s the best concert he’s ever been to, and that alone makes me so happy (Jake isn’t the biggest concert lover). But let’s be honest, Coldplay ALWAYS delivers an amazing show.
My birthday spent in Ireland also stands out as one of my favorite days! It was one of those “I’m living a Walter Mitty Adventure” day. I decided I wanted to rent E bikes and explore Achill Island for the day. It was amazingly beautiful! Please put “E bike the Wild Atlantic Way onto your bucket list” immediately. We ended the night with dinner, a cake, and some presents. I will definitely remember my 25th birthday as a good one!
My last big highlight was Dublin! It was our last hoorah to end an amazing trip. We only had one day there, so we made the most of it. We did some good shopping (I secured two pairs of super cute sneakers that I KNOW Rel would be jealous of, which makes me very confident in that purchase), we visited the Trinity college library, and had high tea at our hotel. I’m not exactly sure why I loved Dublin so much, but it was just an exciting and lively city to end our (mostly spent in the countryside) trip on! Oh, and it didn’t have a rubbish strike happening.
Scotland & Ireland are both such amazing & beautiful places. Don’t expect your typical museum/site seeing European trip, but DO expect an incredible landscape & views type of trip. So grateful to my mom for planning this, and for Michele & Maruan for being such great hosts! Until next time ✌️
