Our January Exodus

There comes a time every winter that I must escape, lest I lose my mind and will to continue. Must be my AZ brain muscle memory.  2013 has by far been THE WORST January I can remember.  I believe every single day was freezing, snowing and/or the worst air quality in the world (truly).  I am so glad I planned a trip for the middle of January!  It couldn’t come soon enough.  Even some of the drizzly moments during the week in CA felt good.  The morning we left it was four degrees.

B doesn't go on many rides at all, but he made an exception for this one. He felt fine until we went upside down. I obviously loved it!

We were glad to hear that Landon & Wyatt were not too old to enjoy CA Adventure & Disneyland with us!

The World of Color was a magical display by the genius that has run Disney for so many years. Worth every moment of visual awe.

This is proof that I took a photog class and learned some cool stuff.

Maybe some of you have heard that I truly believed that my youngest girl would have red hair. Alas it was not to be but that doesn't keep her from loving her namesake. Plus she got a "princess updo" at the bippii boppiti boutique. Can you see Ariel above her head?

TT and Wyatt managed to get themselves in trouble about twelve times.  It seems like they are getting a lot stricter as it was for dumb stuff, like turning around backwards on the carousel, running or climbing up on various things.

We found a really great restaurant in Santa Monica on Friday night called Tender Greens, thanks to Michelle’s find food app.  Healthy and tasty both for kids and adults. After Disneyland food (they could learn some things), it was refreshing to say the least.

The whole CA Taylor family and Michelle flew in to come dinner to help celebrate the Big B's Bday in Santa Monica. Paul left us early before I could snap a photo to go to the Muse concert....had I known I would have most likely abandoned my family to go too.

We spent some time on the beach at the workout areas where Ari wowed the super ab boys with her ability to swing across the rings and climb to the top of the rope.

First a bird struck our original plane (not while we were in it) so they got another one and then a huge snowstorm delayed us another 4 hours. I should have been doing homework, instead I was playing Flowline - curse TT for getting me hooked on that dumb game!

We landed to three feet of snow on our car. We also missed an ice storm, so that needed to be scraped off too – without a scraper at midnight.  A big welcome home to poor B, who had to deal with that mess while we waited in the warmth with the luggage.  An abrupt end to the big Birthday celebrations.  Back to the reality of a UT winter…I hope I recharged enough to survive until Spring.

  1. I LOVE that pic of you and dad on California Screamin’. My very favorite ride and you both look so cute 🙂 love you

  2. Looks like you had a great time. Love the photos of everyone. Sorry we were not able to connect with you. Aberdeen was blessed – and then rushed to the clinic for breathing problems -but she’s OK now.

  3. clarissa sorenson It was always a pleasure to see John and feel of his kindness and graciousness. The pictures do tell a lot about him. He seemed to quietly observe and love deeply his posterity. on said:

“California Dreamin'”. Looked like a great escape! I’ve been keeping tabs on the Utah weather and counting my blessings in sunny Arizona. I hope the snow has melted by mid-March when we return! Great pictures! You are a pro!
