Montana was a Huge Success – 4th of July

June 25 to July 2021

B pulled the boat and I caravanned driving his Sprinter Van. The sky was blue, the yellow flowers were in bloom and the lake was welcoming us for the summer.

We launched the boat and docked it for the very first time on our very own lift.

I kid you not – a rainbow showed up right when Dave, Shel and kids arrived. I couldn’t think of a better way to welcome everyone. My kids had to circle the lake because of lightening from this storm so they couldn’t land for a bit. I was watching the plane on the app just make loop after loop but they all finally made it safe and sound.

We had a jet ski ordered but what with all the Covid nonsense – it had not arrived and we TOTALLY lucked out that someone had just traded these in. When we walked in to the place, the sales guy was on the phone with someone in Idaho to buy them and we bought them on the spot. Phew! We honestly could not locate any used sea doos anywhere, Utah, Idaho, Arizona or Montana.

We were expecting all of the kids and Dave & Michele plus kiddos for the 4th of July. We set up everything in the house and went grocery shopping. And it just happened to be the first Thursday of the month where the store gives 10% off to Senior Citizens over 55. The cashier offered it to me – I was a little distressed because I AM NOT over 55 yet – but she said “well is you husband?”. Yes, yes he is…so with four entirely full baskets of groceries, it was a significant discount. Another Montana win – (minus the age slight).

After a very long two day trek – everyone finally made it. The weather was absolutely perfect, the lake water was warm enough for no wetsuit and we made it an epic fourth of July week.

Every year, our neighbors in the bay put on a spectacular fireworks show for 4th of July. People come from all over the lake at 10:00 pm and watch it from their boats. It was truly magical and the very best fireworks show I’ve ever been too – including the Disney ones.

The recent storm always stirs of sticks and debris and I could see this huge log right out in the middle of the bay just floating out there waiting to kill someone’s boat, jet ski or person. I feel the need every time I see wood floating out there to pick it up so I kept talking about it to everyone. Jake and TT went out on the jet ski and pulled it back with a rope over to our dock. Lelu was very upset because she had no idea what we would do with it. Well leave it to the boys to rescue the situation and the log. It was truly one of my most favorite sights. All of the boys worked together to drag that giant log onto our property and I absolutely love it! I think it took about three hours plus the truck, the polaris, many straps and all of the boys. It was a very worthy project and I hope we have that log forever!

The three younger boys and Gigi all got up surfing (Tay is recovering from ACL surgery, he spent a lot of time on the jet ski – next year is his year!) Jake and TT helped the boys make dart guns (no photos of that:/) We ate a ton, laughed a ton, watched some movies and just enjoyed each other’s company. It was everything I imagined of a perfect time at the Lake House and then some! Thanks to D & M for making the awfully long drive up!
