I made Jake a picnic cake – something about all the boys and Aub loving picnic cake seems so mysterious to me, I mean it’s an ok cake but they all just really really love it and Jake has joined the Picnic Cake group love. I think I made dinner too but for the life of me can’t remember what I made. Lelu always does super fun things for birthdays and she planned a surprise Harry Potter showing for friends and family for him.

26 Observations about Jake:

1. He LOVES all things Harry Potter – so he and his whole family dressed up to go see Harry Potter for his birthday.
2. He quotes movies every single day – like it’s his day job.
3. When watching a funny movie or show, he repeats funny lines characters on the show say and then laughs.
4. He is training Finn to be a very well behaved dog – but an outside well behaved dog.
5. He wears a polo shirt to work every single day.
6. He is new convert to Lulu Lemon clothes for men. (I like to think I encouraged that buying him some Christmas gifts from there and giving him a Taz embroidered polo from there)
7. He loves rock climbing with TT
8. The Sorenson boys love Jake.
9. He loves sour candy.
10. He loves Parks & Rec, watches it a lot and really loves his “Mouse Rat” t-shirt.
11. He’s the most helpful doing dishes wherever he is.
12. He’s also the quickest to help B move things or pretty much anything B needs.
13. He reads a lot of books about finance and success.
14. He gets his hair cut at Great Clips and says he will the rest of his life.
15. He’s always pushing himself in order to be better.
16. He loves adventures, boating, camping, outdoors, snowboarding & skiing (which is new this year) but not hiking.
17. He loves our trip to Whistler to ski and really wants to go in the summer to mountain bike sometime.
18. He came up with Ari’s newest nickname that has really stuck with everyone – REL
19. He has a group of friends from high school that he still sees a lot and is very loyal to.
20. He can mimic people surprisingly well and then sometimes he adopts the way they talk -like cute little kids that say things funny – he loves to repeat.
21. He loves the avengers too.
22. He’s very good at gift giving and surprising Lelu.
23. He’s super interested in house decorating and designing – almost as much as Lelu.
24. He really loves the first car he has bought for himself – his Mazda 5.
25. He’s really looking forward to spending the summer in Montana.
26. He’s (and Lelu) said he’s (they) jealous that his kids will get to grow up spending summers in Montana.

Jake’s 5 Year Prediction/Goals:

• Still be Married to Ayden. Be more understanding, loving, and supportive than ever

• Have traveled to several different places: Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Australia, Bora Bora, Spain and African Safari. At least a couple of those

• Probably 2 kids. Maybe a 3rd on the way

• Be a fun awesome dad! 

• Have a well-trained Finn that I go on runs with every morning

• Be in relatively good shape. Probably maintain my current weight 170-180

• Climb a 5.12c indoors. Climb a 5.12a outdoors

• Backflip on a wakeboard. 360 on a surfboard. Hopefully able to do both consistently

• Be Senior Partner at my firm

• Making $200k+. Hopefully much more. Hopefully I haven’t derailed for a whole new career. Unless it’s better…?
