Holy Crapoly They Are Sixteen!

November 7, 2017

The morning of their birthday we headed out to the DMV as soon as it opened.  Ari had no problem getting her license, but for some ridiculous reason the drivers school TT took his test at did not put it into the computer.  Of course, we had a jerky DMV employee with no compassion at all be super rude about it even though we had sealed proof in an envelope – that is supposed to be the fail-safe proof of passing the driving exam – told us the school HAD to put it in and they couldn’t do anything for us (I know you are all shocked that a DMV employee could be rude). So we called the school – they didn’t open until 10 am.  We took Ari home so she could drive her car to school and TT and I headed over to Momentum Climbing gym to get him a membership for his birthday, and wait for the school to open.  The girl working there was super nice and waved the registration fee for him (thank heavens a slight win). Then the guy at the school told us the DMV employee was a liar and that the sealed envelope would have been fine – who do you think was telling the truth?? – when we went back they said the school guy was lying.  Whatever, he FINALLY got his license and he was trying to decide what goofy face to make (you aren’t allowed to btw) but he accomplished the “Jesus-drivers-license-photo” anyway.

On their actual birthday me, B and Master D took them out to a nice dinner after Ari finished cheer practice at a restaurant called The Wild Rose.  On Sunday I made dinner and we celebrated with Lelu here too.

TT wanted his usual picnic cake and this year Ari wanted homemade rice crispy treats.  I had to make both of them twice, as I epically failed on each of them…not cooking the cake long enough (I had someone take it out of the oven while in the shower and didn’t check to see if it’s done) and making Ari’s with these gourmet marshmallows that didn’t melt very well.  Master D made TT a new cake and I bought the good old preservative filled marshmallows and thank heavens they turned out well.

Ari’s candles wouldn’t go out very easily as they’d just keep relighting.

Lelu got TT a beautiful blankie for him to cuddle with ..although his reaction was “it’s kinda creepy”.
A couple weeks later, we had a little party indoor surfing at Provo Beach.  My twins are very good at indoor surfing because Master D loves to go there and they’ve had a lot of practice.  (Don’t tell them, but I think they were showing off just a little) Their friends, however, were not as good as they were.  I took a lot of photos but my favs are the wipeouts.  The girls all got there first and were using both sides of the surfing areas, but as soon as TT and his friends showed up, the girls all migrated over to one side and then most of them were too self conscious to keep trying it out.  The boys started off not being that great at it, but I’m pretty sure they enjoyed wiping out and couldn’t care less that the girls were watching them and eventually all of them got pretty good at it.    This one is my number one favorite with TT’s hair and Ari’s legs in sync.
