B has been involved in a month long study at Stanford University, he’s been staying in Palo Alto since Jan 6th and I’ve been holding down the fort here at home, mostly, with some help from Courtney.  We miss him a lot, so I drove a car and his mountain bike out to him and spent a long weekend for his birthday – the twins are deep into cheer competitions and LaCrosse practices. (Surprisingly a road trip without kids and listening to books on tape the whole way was not all that bad)

Here he’s eating a mini cupcake on his actual Birthday at a place called Kara’s cupcakes.  I hate to admit but their cupcakes are better than Sprinkles.  Aub flew down on his Birthday, as she was working in Palo Alto that week.  We went to dinner at a yummy place called Evvia – that you have to get reservations at least two weeks in advance.  The food was good – not ‘to die for’ good – but B’s dessert was the most delicious thing ever!…. and Aub took our very dark with very shiny foreheads photo.  We should have had the waitress take a photo of all of us.  (Oh dear I have a very many “should-of’s” darn that hindsight!)Then later in the week, B flew back up to UT because he had an important client that had planned to come ski with him for the last decade and was finally coming.  Of course, it just happened to be the day before we got the biggest (and only – so far) snow storm. Needless to say, the skiing was not great!

B felt very appreciated when he went into the office for a couple hours after skiing as his office staff is very creative when celebrating his birthday. This is ALL post-it notes.  (Thanks Brian and Nate!)
I then hosted a homemade birthday dinner (Lelu came down from Logan) of steak, potatoes and the very loved (very special) picnic cake.
