Beauty and the Heat Beast

I remember telling some of my friends that July would be my least busy month of summer. Well I unintentionally lied because July thus far has been exhausting but pretty fun.  I don’t have a photo from B and I’s anniversary this year (6/30) but for posterity and my lacking memory I’m going to tell you about it because we have now decided we will trade off every year planning it.  This year it was up to B.  He sent me a big beautiful bunch of roses and then we went to dinner and ….go kart racing!  He passed me once on the track and then he attempted to lap me and I may or may not have gestured at him when he tried – and then he gallantly backed off.  Ari even asked him if he was going to let me win and he said he didn’t think I’d want him to…..ummm even after 27 years there’s some things left to learn about one another.

July 6-8 Ari went to her very first cheer camp in Provo.  They stayed overnight and on the last day had a competition.  This is our first cheer competition.  She loved it.  I supported her. Isn’t she a beautiful little cheerleader?IMG_4484July 9-16 TT headed off to Vancouver with his best friend Chase to a mountain bike camp.  Chase recently moved on my birthday to Palo Alto CA after living next door for the last 8 years.  It was a very sad day, so I think to make up for it a little, his parents asked if TT would want to go to this camp. We gave him the opportunity to work for two weeks, ten hours a day helping fix up one of our rental properties to earn his way to go.  He didn’t love that but he loved the camp.  Of course they didn’t get a single photo together but TT was amazed at how cool Whistler was and is begging B to take him back and do all of the activities he didn’t get to do while there: the longest zip line in the world, rafting, kayaking, bungee jumping and the longest unsupported tram that goes from peak to peak.  He said that the scenery he saw in beautiful Canada reminded him of Scotland – so green it didn’t seem real.  I was very happy that he made it home safe and sound.IMG_4651IMG_4487IMG_4665 IMG_4666 IMG_4668 IMG_4667 IMG_4663

July 15-17 Ari and I headed to AZ for Christian’s baptism.  B stayed home to pick up TT from the airport and because he can’t stand the fiery brimstone-like heat beast in the valley of the sun. Every time I was outside I felt like I had just been in bikram hot yoga…instant sweat everywhere. My blood is not thin enough anymore.  We love those boys and Dave and Michele and Michele does such a great job putting together parties like this.  Ryan cracked me up pretty much the whole time.  Ari asked him if he knew he was cute and he said “noooo”.  Since he’d already told me he was a BYU football player I said “But all BYU football players are cute” and he very matter of fact told me “not the big ones”.  Ari was in little boy and Michele heaven and didn’t mind the heat one bit.  The temperature peaked at 114 by the time we reached their house. IMG_0218IMG_4532IMG_4536The other three boys wanted to ride with us over to the church.  Cuteness overload!IMG_0207Ari bought them treats and Ryan was very interested in her putting them together.IMG_4547IMG_0208IMG_4551
