Babies In College

August 23-25, 2020

B and I drove back down to Phoenix with Ari and moved her in to her dorm. We met her roommate, Lena – a very nice originally from Russia currently from Gilbert fellow nursing student and suffered in 115 degrees every single day we were there. Moving her in while it was 115 was quite the gross experience, I must say. But she loves the heat already. She doesn’t even mind it when it’s that hot. We also were there for the one and only monsoon they had last summer. It was wild. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to experience summer in AZ. Ari was very excited and ready to be there. Some of her classes were meeting in person. She’s at the downtown Phoenix campus starting the nursing program. I think dropping her off in my hometown and knowing that Dave and Michele are super close to her was not nearly as scary as it could have been. I do track her location, sometimes in the middle of the night and call her and drove all over town to find her mace – but other than that it’s been ok. It’s so unbelievable that time has moved fast enough to send my babies to college. We were supposed to be empty nesters at this point, but a pandemic has changed a lot of “supposed to’s”, hasn’t it?

We waved goodbye as we drove out of town toward home.
She ran out of her dorm and waved goodbye to us.

We made the extremely long drive back to Utah just in time to get TT ready to move to Logan to go to Utah State. Literally, the very next day after we got back TT packed up and B, Master D, Lelu, Jake and TT drove to Logan to help TT move in. I stayed home and made dinner for when they got back that night.

On Tuesday, TT drove back up to Logan to start classes. The next chapter of first day of school photos.

Later that day, B and I drove back up to Logan and took TT grocery shopping to get him all set up in his new house. His friend Carson’s parents bought this little house in Logan and fixed it up a bit last summer and rent to Carson and his friends for college. It’s in North Logan, so they have to drive to school about 5 minutes. He’s living there with his friends Carson, Caden and Blake. He has his own room in the basement and he’s in charge of his own meals, laundry etc. Ari has a meal plan at the dorm so isn’t cooking for herself yet. They were both extremely excited for this next chapter of pseudo independence. Just a note about that cool Patagonia sign in TT’s room. Kenna painted that for him. and TT built his own desk.
