August: Music; Senior Year and Farewell Chase

August 13th

It’s not news to anyone but I really love concerts and I really love Mumford and Sons. Last time they were in town, I had tickets but gave them to Lelu and her friend Kayla since I had an 80 minute presentation in my ethics class the next day I needed to prep for. I totally sucked at my presentation and missed the concert so I made a promise to myself I would never miss seeing them again. I invited B to go and he passed, Lelu is always a good sport, especially for bands she really likes. We saw TT’s girlfriend Kenna there with her dad, so I’m not the only parent out there that takes their kids to concerts.

My kids pay no attention at all to my not wanting the dogs running about or being in the house – in fact they actually sent me this photo. Cinco definitely thinks he’s the king of the castle. And do you see his forehead wrinkle. He inherited that from me. It’s called a grump-a-lator. Lelu and Ari have it too. He needs a little puppy botox.

The twins started their senior year. I’m in denial a bit. I remember when I was a kid, I didn’t believe my mom had ever been a kid and that it was taking waaayyy too long for me to grow up. I distinctly remember having that conversation with her and laughing at me. And then I thought I’d be raising kids forever and never be an empty nester, but the countdown is truly on now. Be careful what you wish for, knock wood when you say “never” and don’t blink.

Ari had to be at school early to welcome all the students as a cheerleader. TT wasn’t up and ready to get one of them together. I think that’s been the case the last 3 years anyway.

Chase got his mission call to Chili. It’s sad that these boys won’t see each other for three years. We flew out there on Saturday August 24th and his farewell was the 25th. Their other friend Carson and his parents came out too. They took a super long road trip to get there and then left immediately after church. That’s some friend dedication! It was super kind and super cool the Entwistles scheduled a van to pick us all up on Saturday night and drive us into San Francisco to go to dinner on the Wharf. After dinner we drove across the Golden Gate bridge but sadly it was completely socked in by fog. Chase’s dad is the bishop and they follow the guidelines not to have people over after church. They aren’t in Utah anymore…. It was much more subdued than any farewells here in UT. It was a super quick 36 hour trip but so worth it. I know Chase will be a great missionary! He left the week after Labor Day.
