A Mysteriously Fast End

May 21, 2015

As much of a dog tolerator that I am, and as much as I have professed that Izzie drives me crazy and may have said on too many occasions when she “magically” escaped the backyard and roamed the neighborhood that I wish a coyote might find her, I really didn’t mean it.  I kind of “loved to hate her”, if you know what I mean.  Last year for mother’s day if you recall, the boys gave me a “loving Izzie kit”.  This year, Master D actually enlarged a photo of her and put a target on the photo – as a joke – of course I would never have used it and it went straight into the trash the day she died as it wasn’t funny anymore.  What I really hate is when my kids are deeply hurting and I knew losing Izzie would deeply hurt them and it certainly did.

One morning B got up and noticed that she didn’t come greet him at the door and jump up and down on the door to be fed.  He brought her in and she was very lethargic and wouldn’t eat or drink.  The kids all knew she was sick but were running out the door to school and knew we were taking her to the vet.  I called and made an appt and B took her to work with him.  He thought she was asleep but when he checked on her about an hour later – his appointment was in another half hour – she was gone.  She was officially Lelu’s dog, but TT loved her the most and she loved B the most.  He paid a lot of attention to her and tried to convince me she was the cutest most human animal that ever lived.  Therefore, he was definitely the most upset. We were all shocked as she was only 7 years old and it happened so fast.  Here’s another one of those things we’ll never know until we know all things.  100_2621 100_2620 100_2623

  1. I always thought she was the “cutest” of your dogs, but I know the toilet training challenges can influence a person’s feelings for an animal. If I were to “ever” (and I seriously doubt if the ever comes in my lifetime) want a dog, it would be one like Izzy. I’m sure you’ll meet her in Heaven, and she’ll apologize for her weakness.

  2. What?! ;( When did this happen?? I am so sorry. Please give my condolences to everyone. I thought she was so cute and sweet.
