Master D celebrated on the actual day with Maddie, Lelu and a bunch of friends down in Provo. Lelu snuck into his apartment and decorated his room for him. Then we met for dinner on Saturday and Lelu made him his own picnic cake for Sunday dinner. Lelu was quite the birthday fairy this year for me.
I figure this is as good of a place as any to post about Master D’s heritage which he thought was super cool. Cherie’s husband works for Ancestry.com and she gave me two DNA kits for Christmas (I had already bought 2 for me and B). Master D snatched one of the up and sent it off. Lelu and I have sent ours since he got his results (still waiting for results) and I still have one more for B and I’m going to send one to Aub too. Mostly Irish – not a shock, especially since all Scottish ARE Irish, if you don’t have any Roman in you – you are from Northern Scotland and if you do have Roman – South Scotland (I learned this from a Scottish guy I met). So Master D is mostly a product of the highlands of which he is very proud!
And now birthday quiz:
1. If you were a cake which cake would you be?
Picnic cake, assuredly. Partly because I have eaten so much of it that I may literally be a small percentage of picnic cake.
2. What is one thing you’re embarrassed to admit you want to try?
Until recently, it was get a pedicure. Thanks to Maddie, I did end up doing it, and it was only slightly embarrassing when she left me alone with the pedicurist to go grab shorts. It was quite the situation. I don’t know if I have many things I am embarrassed to try anymore.
3. Are you proud of what you’re doing with your heart and time right now?
I am. I feel confident that I am managing my time between work, school, passion projects, and Madison rather well.
4. Have you ever won anything? Big or small?
Certainly have. I once won a “state championship” in football when I was 11 years old. I once won a gameboy color in an arcade game at a bowling alley. I once won tickets to a private concert on the radio. I won a weight loss contest with my dad over the summer. I have won some awards in some film festivals.
5. What food will you absolutely not, under any circumstances, eat?
I am not a big fan of the idea of eating intestines/kidneys/livers/hearts/ etc. Of course, that hasn’t stopped me in the past.
6. What’s the best way to comfort you when you’re having a really terrible day?
Time, cuddling, movies.
7. where is the most beautiful place on earth and why?
Portovenere, Italy.
8. Are ghosts real?
Only if you believe they are.
9. Are aliens real?
I hope so!
10. What’s the saddest song you’ve ever heard?
“Rooting for You” by London Grammar. It’s about not being as in love with someone as they are with you. That would suck for both sides.
11. How about the sweetest song?
“You and I” by Ingrid Michaelson
12. What was the name of the first person you ever had a crush on? Why did you like them?
Michelle, in kindergarten. We were so in love that we would make each other puzzles out of our pictures and put them in each other’s tote boxes.
13. What do you think you cook or bake the best?
I am far better at cooking. Baking is too much of an exact science for the improvisation I like to incorporate.
14. If you could change your first name what would it be?
Wouldn’t change it.
15.When you’re upset, do you want space or attention?
It depends on the kind of upset. Mostly, attention. But when I’m truly upset, space.
16. What’s #1 on your bucket list?
Right now, see the midnight sun at the tip of Norway.
17. What embarrasses you the most in front of other people?
General disorder. In my appearance, surroundings, etc.
18. Who are you most envious of—real or fictional—and why?
I am most envious of Hermione Granger. Why? Because she gets to keep both her parents, none of her immediate relatives die, she is smarter than most, and she has magic. I’ll be the male Hermione.
19.What are 5 things that give you complete peace of mind?
Knowing my family is safe.
Cuddling with Maddie.
3/4’s of the way through a run.
All A’s on that final report card.
A clean room/apartment
20. What’s your biggest pet peeve?
People being ungrateful for others. Far too often, I see someone go all out for another person only for an anticlimactic response of gratitude.
